Pangnyu inaugurate approach road under MGNREGS

Dimapur, January 19 (DIPR): The Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development & REPA, Pangnyu Phom had a series of inaugural programme on his way of attending the program on January 14, 2011 of the 45th Yimchungru Students’ Union Conference and the Golden Jubilee of the Chessore Students’ Union.
The Parliamentary Secretary on his way to Chessore inaugurated an approach road connecting Kuther village to Y/Anner, which is the oldest village among the Yimchungru community. The 13 km stretch of approach road which link to a number of other neighbouring villages was constructed under MGNREGS. The launching of road connectivity is said to be an eye opener, to the people of Yimchungru in particular, and hoped for economic upliftment in all respect, which is indeed the lifeline of the people.
VDB Union, RB block Chessore in a press release informed that speaking at the occasion, the chief guest appraised the major initiatives undertaken by the VDBs for construction of approach roads under MGNREGS and exhorted the VDB members and concerned department officials and staff to work hard in inorder to set Chessore Block as a model for other blocks. He also reminded the villagers and the VDB members to extend cooperation towards the department officials for bringing development. He also inaugurated the approach road at Chessore constructed under NREGS, and village haat constructed under SGSY and said the achievement made today belongs to them and urged them to preserve with care.
Pangnyu was accompanied by R. Tohanba, Parliamentary Secretary for IPR and Economics & Statistics, Director Economics & Statistics, Joint Director RDB Kohima, Project Director DRDA Tuensang and his staff, ADC Shamator and a host of department officials and party dignitaries.
Parliamentary Secretary for IPR & Economics & Statistic, R. Tohanba also said that people happened to be backward due to lack of road connectivity, and further said that with the effort of the department and co-operation extended by they villagers the dreams has come true and a sigh of relief has come to the people to enjoy the facilities provided by the government.
The inauguration programme was held at BDO’s office Chessore, chaired by president VDB Union Chessore and invocation prayer was pronounced by pastor, Chessore Town Baptist Church.
Meanwhile in a separate occasion, S. Lakiumong, BDO Chessore was awarded with “President Commendation Certificate” by Yimchungru Akheru Arehako (YAA) in recognition and acknowledgment of his outstanding service rendered towards YAA (Students Conference) during 2009-2011.
