Phek, April 9 (MExN): The Phek Area Public Organisation (PAPO) has extended its support to the 'Clean Election Campaign' initiated by Nagaland Baptist Churches Council and its affiliate Chakhesang Baptist Churches Council. A resolution in support of the clean election campaign was taken during PAPO consultative meeting at Khuza town on April 6. In this regard, PAPO appealed all its affiliated units to extend all out support while implementing this noble mission for the welfare of the people.
Also stating that it supports and encourages good and upright leadership, the organization in its resolution stated, “PAPO and its constituent units shall extend all support, promote and uplift leaders from the area without any ism or bias.”
In a 10-point resolution, PAPO noted with regret that the Backward Area Funds are not reaching the people of the area under Meluri A/C for many years. “Therefore, it is resolved that PAPO will fight for the people of the area till this fund reach the people of Meluri A/C,” it maintained.
The organization also urged upon the Department of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority to realize the amount of Rs. 12,26,65,700 sanctioned against the construction of disaster development infrastructure for Phek District by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) New Delhi vide office letter No. 33-8/2015-NDM-1 Dated March 9, 2016 at the earliest.
Also pointing to a longstanding demand of the public, PAPO appealed the state government of Nagaland (Home) to sanction independent EAC post to EAC HQ Khuza along with other infrastructure development.
The resolution further stated that PAPO aims at balanced development of villages under its jurisdiction, and in this regard called on all its constituents to help, support and uplift one another “for the development of the area”. “Special support should be extended to the weaker and less developed villages of the area so that they can come at par with the other villages,” the resolution stated.
Other resolutions approved and adopted at the PAPO consultative meeting include: Support to bring Phek area under one A/C “as and when there is delimitation of A/C”; to abide by the decision of CPO in banning hunting and fishing and preserving the flora and fauna of the land; to maintain unity, integrity and fraternity of the area; that disputes between different villages under PAPO jurisdiction should be first handed over to PAPO for finding a solution which should be strictly adhered to.
