PAPO urges for unity; hold taxation by NPGs

Phek, January 21 (MExN): The Phek Area Public Organisation (PAPO) on Wednesday called for unity among all Naga national workers of the Naga National Council (NNC) under a single umbrella and in “true spirit as one.”

In a press release, PAPO President, Wepelou Mebou and General Secretary, Vechizo Khamo stated that the organization upholds the standing resolution of the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO). It supports the CPO’s call to put on hold any taxation by Naga political groups.

The PAPO reaffirmed its commitment to the original principles of the NNC, “for which many patriots have made supreme sacrifices,” and urged unity for “one voice and one tax” in the greater interest of the Naga people.

The organisation stated, “the proliferation of factions in recent times has created confusion in differentiating Naga Political Groups genuinely pursuing the Naga aspirations and factions which came into existence for vested interests, resulting in rampant and multiple-taxation which needs to be checked.”

Being a part of the CPO, the PAPO reiterated that it adheres to its resolution to uphold the “original” Naga national principle of the NNC adopted on May 30, 1990, at Kikruma and reaffirmed on June 16, 1994. “Therefore, continues its support to the activities undertaken by the NNC in the interest of the Naga Nation,” PAPO added.
