
Dimapur, September 29 (MExN): ‘Parakram Prav’, to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the Surgical Strike conducted by the Indian Army across the LoC in 2016 was observed by the 1 Nagaland Girls Bn NCC, Kohima at St. Joseph’s college, Jakhama on September 29.
The occasion was celebrated to showcase the courage, valour and sacrifice of the Armed Forces of the country. Col. Rajeev Kumar, CO of the unit for the NCC cadets speaking during the event explained ‘Surgical Strike’ and the reasons by the Government of India for publicising it.
Col Kumar stated that Surgical Strike is a swift and targeted attack on specific target that aims to neutralise the enemy while ensuring minimum collateral damage to the surrounding areas and civilians, which was carried out by the Indian Para Commandos on September 28 and 29 2016 at LoC.“
A short documentary on ‘Surgical Strike-2016’ was also shown during the event followed by career counseling on joining the Armed Forces.
Display of military equipments, military band display, movies and motivational talk were part of the “Parakram Prav” celebration in another event at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
28 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) and HQ 5 sector Assam rifles, celebrated Parakram Prav’at Bn HQ, Wokha and JNV School, Chukitong. Major Nilesh Kewal Suryavanshi spoke on the occasion in which 15 teachers and 400 students from various schools attended the event. Major Vinkal Prashar carried out the event at JNV School, Chukitong is which nine teachers and 37 students attended the same.
Meanwhile a documentary on Surgical Strikes was also showcased for the students as part of the event.
Sainik School Punglwa conducted special assembly wherein Cdt Sonam Rinchin and Dfr Anand Kumar (NCC) shared Strike operations details like precision, planning and tough training involve and challenges faced on the ground and how successful operation was carried out with zero casualty.
As part of celebration, Slogan Writing and Poster Painting on the theme of Surgical Strike were conducted. All staff and cadets took part in the celebration.
