District Education Officer (DEO) of Dimapur, R Amongla Jamir has emphasized on the relation and close coordination among parents, teachers and students for development of a child both academically and socially.

“Sometimes they do not understand each other and that is why it is important that they do not rely on each other,” she said putting an emphasis on the parents not to totally rely on the teachers for the education of the child but to also do their bit at home in educating the child.

Amongla was speaking after inaugurating auditorium at Government Middle School, Signal Angami Village, Dimapur on August 24.

She encouraged the students to be hardworking without which success was seldom achieved and also advised them to fear the Lord besides doing their duties to be obedient and attentive in classrooms. She asked the students to inculcate the habit of raising questions to their teachers with an inquisitive mind.

To the teachers, the DEO urged them to be role models for their students and contribute their part to the society to usher in positive changes.

Referring to earlier speeches from the chairpersons of School Management Committee and Signal Angami Village Council about the need to upgrade the institution to that of a High School, Amongla said she had also felt the same need and had accordingly taken up the matter with higher authorities but unfortunately the school did not feature in the up-gradation list. In this regard, she urged the school authorities, VCC, SMC and all concerned stakeholders to be united and strongly initiate the process of up-gradation with the government.

Chairperson, SMC, Dr. N. Simon in his welcome address informed that the school has a total of 441 students enrolment with six Primary level teachers and 12 Middle school level teachers, including subject teachers. He pointed out that the school currently does not have a Maths subject teacher and appealed to the authorities to look into the matter.

Village council chairperson, Keneichosul Sophie and Head GB Signal Angami, RZ Angami, who also spoke at the programme, thanked the DEO Dimapur for her initiative in making the need for an auditorium in the school a reality.

Students presented various entertainment items during the programme, which was attended by a host of officers from the District Education Office and village leaders.
