Children’s efforts alone are not sufficient and parental support is equally important for their success, stated Sumi Kukami Hoho (SKH) President Hetoho S Zhimomi.

Addressing the evening session of the 40th General Conference of the Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) at Yezami Village on January 7 as the main speaker, he also encouraged students to give thanks to God regardless of success or failure.

Highlighting gender dynamics, Zhimomi remarked that women are excelling in many fields and stressed the need to revive equal educational opportunities for both genders.

He further advised students to begin preparing from the high school level to succeed in life and highlighted opportunities available through industrial and skill development departments, including for school dropouts.

The SKH President also noted that skills such as electrical work and content creation offer significant potential, even within one’s own hometown, and encouraged students to give their best and place God first in all endeavours, while invoking God’s blessings upon them.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the Zunheboto Tokujo Kuqhakulu (ZTK) Dimapur Union, Er Kakiye Khujujakha highlighted the growing population of youth in the 20–30 age group and said the Government of India is placing increased emphasis on youth development. He urged students to identify their goals early, choose suitable professions, and stressed the importance of sustainability, noting that values and teachings, including biblical principles, hold meaning only when practised.

Representatives of the ZTK Kohima Union encouraged students to take up agricultural activities and called for responsible use of social media, stressing that it should be used to create positive social impact and not to spread negative influence, including on church-related matters.

Kivikhu Achumi of Hekiye Village challenged students from the ZRSU area by announcing that he would donate one month of his pension to the first three toppers of the HSLC examinations.

The ZTK Kohima Union’s General Secretary, meanwhile, informed that plans are underway to organise coaching and seminar programmes for students and urged them to actively participate whenever such initiatives are announced.

The session also featured a special song by the Kawoto Students’ Union, while greetings were delivered by representatives of ZTK from Dimapur/Chümoukedima and Kohima.

It also included a drama by the Lizu Old Students’ Union and a felicitation ceremony for students who cleared various examinations and achieved academic distinctions and accomplishments in other fields. Life testimonies and experiences were further shared by Livino K Awomi, NPS (CESE) 2024 GT Science; Abotoli K Sumi, NSSB CETSE 2025, Soil Conservation Assistant; and Akivili N Chishi, rank holder in BA History, Nagaland University 2024.
