Parish feast cum laying of foundation day at Shamator

Shamator, October 29 (MExN): The feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron of the Centre at Shamator was celebrated on October 29, with the Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima as the main celebrant. Priests from Kohima, Dimapur, and Shamator concelebrated the Holy Eucharist with the Bishop during which 28 Children received the Sacrament of the First Holy Communion.  

After the Eucharistic celebration, the laying foundation stone for the new school building was officiated in the presences of Priests, Sam Biju, 2nd Command 15 AR, Shamator, Sholula, President, YWA, Public leaders, and members of school managing board, delegates from villages of Leankonger, Pathso, parents and students of St. Xavier School, Shamator. The representatives of the community laid the foundation along with the bishop.  

During the short felicitation programme in school, Bishop said that the new foundation laid is for St. Francis School, Shamator and every one must own it up. The public, parents and children must feel that it is their school. The Catholic Church in Nagaland serves its people without distinction and even in the remotest area of the state providing the best and affordable education.  

Rev. Fr. Tomy, Centre in charge welcomed Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, Sam Biju, 2nd Commandant 15 AR, Shamator, public leaders and invited guests.  

The students presented Prayer dance, songs and choreography during the felicitation programme. Sholula, President, YWA and Abraham Athong gave speeches on behalf of the public. The programme ended with meal serve to all.
