Parking restriction in Chümoukedima

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, OCTOBER 24 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Town Council has issued an order prohibiting the parking of heavy vehicles, including trucks and other large commercial vehicles, along National Highway 29 within Chümoukedima Town jurisdiction between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm daily.

The order stated that the decision was taken after it was observed that the indiscriminate parking of heavy vehicles along the highway has been causing serious traffic congestion, obstructing smooth vehicular movement, and inconveniencing the general public.

It further noted that such obstructions pose safety risks to motorists and pedestrians and adversely affect the flow of essential traffic within the town area.

To ease congestion, especially during school and office hours, the parking restriction will be enforced strictly between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. However, heavy vehicles will be allowed to park along NH-29 within Chümoukedima Town jurisdiction before 8:00 am and after 3:00 pm for loading and unloading of goods.

The order stated that it shall be enforced in coordination with the Traffic Police, Chümoukedima, and the Chümoukedima Town Council. “Any vehicle found violating this order shall be liable to penalties as per the provision of the law,” it added.

The order, issued by Dr Kuzonyi Wideo, ADC and Executive Officer, Chümoukedima Town Council, further mentioned that it shall come into immediate effect and remain in force until further notice.
