Yenili Zhimo, a young and upcoming singer-song-writer from Dimapur, Nagaland released her debut single titled ‘Try’ at indihut.com recently. At 20, she says that she is committed to music and is currently pursuing music at Hills Praise Music Academy, Dimapur. She lists her hobby as music – singing and song-writing; in her words, a “passion which can’t be restrained.” Her music taste covers a wide genre – from pop, R&B to rock and metal, while she ardently follows Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Shakira and the likes. “I started singing from an early age. It is my kind of hobby and a comfort,” Zhimo says of her fascination with music. She spends her leisure time writing - jotting down beautiful lines, putting melody to it. She says that though she is still at the learning stage she is grounded on making music her profession, a career choice which has put her “through a lot of commotion.” “Music is an art of expression and I will express it. What’s wrong in believing and giving it a try?” With that commitment in mind, she says that she joined Hillspraise Music Academy in 2015 to fine tune her “passion.” Two years on, she says that she has learned a lot at the academy under the guidance of her gifted music teacher.
