Dimapur, August 26 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Khango) has terminated Akhekivi from Kiyezu B Village from the active National service of the Naga Army with "immediate effect."
The cadre was allegedly involved in the physical assault of a pastor on August 24 at Naukhati town.
According to a “Termination Ahza” (order) issued by the Office of the Commander, Western Command NSCN-K (Khango), the cadre's service was terminated after disciplinary action was initiated against him.
He was charged with "deviating from the norms of Naga Army Rules & Regulations (RR) and displaying conduct unbecoming of a Naga Army member by harming and endangering the very people that we vowed to protect."
“Henceforth, the membership of the said cadre shall cease to be valid, and he shall bear no responsibility. The Government shall not be held responsible for any untoward incidents related to this matter in the future,” the order added.
A statement from the Lotha Students’ Union on August 25 maintained that the victim, a pastor at Yanpha Baptist Church, was “brutally assaulted” by the NSCN-K (Khango) cadre and alleged it was a “deliberate and premeditated attack.”
Condemning the incident, the union demanded that the NSCN-K (Khango) condemn the “barbaric act and enforce policies to eradicate such heinous deeds by a cadre in the name of the government.”
The LSU has demanded to the concerned authorities to take the issue on a serious note and award befitting punishment to the culprit at the earliest. Additionally, measures must be put in place to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, it added.
The Yanpha Village Council and Yanpha Baptist Church have filed an FIR at Niuland Police Station against Akhekivi.
