The scandal that has rocked the clergy community in Nagaland, surrounding an alleged sexual misconduct of a preacher took a new development. The Father’s House Church (FHC), of which the accused, Robert Kikon, was a former pastor, filed a formal police complaint on October 5.

The said church, in a statement that went viral, termed Kikon as a “former senior pastor” after he was asked to resign on September 22, following the uncovering of what was termed as “immoral acts” by the pastor. The revelation took social media by storm, setting ablaze speculations.

On Saturday evening, the police confirmed receiving an FIR from the FHC and registering the complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The FIR was lodged at the Chümoukedima Police Station.

According to a senior police official, the complaint by the FHC gave no details about the victim or the number of victims and that the accused preacher was absconding. “We are on the lookout for him. We can only say his phone is switched off. The charges against him include molestation. The FIR gave no details about victims but we have registered a case under the POCSO Act. We will be inquiring further,” the police official said.
