Pastor ordained at oldest church in Japukong

Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): A. Mar Pongen, pastor of Lirmen Baptist Church which is one of the oldest Church in Japukong range of Mokokchung district has been ordained today at Lirmen Baptist Church.
The ordination programme was led by Rev. K. Temjen, scripture reading and calling of invocation by Rev. C. Temjen and message delivered by Rev. Y. Wati Imchen. L. Bendang deacon of Lirmen Baptist Church and Rev. Ayu, Member Ordination Council had pronounced the much needed ordination witnesses. A. Mar Pongen, Rev designate had delivered his life testimony to the congregation followed by mass dedication by the ordination council members.
It may be mentioned that Lirmen Baptist Church was established on 18th October 1898. Rev. A. Mar Pongen is the 17th Pastor of Lirmen Baptist Church and he is the First Pastor to be Ordained in the past 113 years history of Lirmen Baptist Church. Ironically, the first Gospel to Longsa village was spread from this Lirmen Arogo during the year 1916.
Today’s event was well attended by Church functionaries from both Lirmen and Longsa Baptist Church, well wishers from different towns and neighboring churches besides church members from Akumen and Tsuremen which is part of parent Lirmen Village.
On this auspicious occasion of this great ordination, the Lirmen Baptist Church is immensely thankful to the ABAM, its ordination committee members and all the well wishers from far and near for the great sacrifice and devotion bestowed to Lirmen Baptist Church and its members for the successful celebration of this event.
