Patkai bids farewell to Tiakhala Shimray

Chümoukedima, June 3 (MExN): Patkai Christian College, Chümoukedima bid adieu to Tiakhala Jamir Shimray, who retired as a member of the teaching faculty after 40 years of service.

The institutional farewell programme was held on Wednesday, June 3, at the Conference Hall to honour Shimray’s four-decade-long service. Joining the institution as a lecturer in 1986, she served with unwavering commitment and distinction, retiring in 2026 at the age of 64.

Patkai’s founder and Principal Emeritus, Rev Dr Tuisem A Shishak was among those who attended Wednesday’s program and went on to fondly reflected on her early teaching career alongside her late husband, Dr Atai Shimray, who had served in the Department of Political Science. Rev Shishak recalled that both the couple studied in Patkai before heading for higher studies and subsequently returned to serve their alma mater as lecturers, ultimately influencing the lives of countless students through their commitment to teaching and mentorship.

In her farewell address, Shimray expressed gratitude to the institution, her colleagues, and students for their support, friendship, and encouragement over the years. Reflecting on her forty years of service, she shared cherished memories and experiences that had enriched her life and career.
