Chümoukedima, May 10 (MExN): Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) held its annual farewell programme, “Parting Social 2026,” on May 8 at the Bundrock Chapel-Auditorium under the theme “Metamorphosis: A Toast to Transitions.”

The event honoured the graduating Class of 2026, celebrating their academic achievements, personal growth and transition to the next stage of life.

The programme brought together faculty members, students, college leaders and guests for a gathering marked by reflection, gratitude and encouragement. The annual farewell recognised the graduating students’ contributions and reaffirmed the values and spirit of the Patkai community.

The formal session began at 10 am and was chaired by Ngurovinuo Vakha. Tiakala Jamir Shimray led the invocation prayer, while Viliezo Dino, Vice President of SUPCC, delivered the welcome address.

In his address, Dino described the outgoing seniors as an integral part of the Patkai family whose leadership had shaped the student community. He said the theme “Metamorphosis” symbolised not only academic transition but also the emotional, social and moral responsibilities of life beyond college. He encouraged the graduates to move forward with courage, faith and integrity while remaining grounded in the values gained at Patkai.

The event also featured a musical presentation by Kuluvelu Swuro and a drama performance by the Drama Club.

A key highlight of the programme was the address to the graduating class focusing on responsibility, character formation and the meaning of authentic education. The speaker emphasised that true growth extends beyond academic achievement and includes intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development.

Drawing on the college motto, “Light and Truth,” the speaker urged students to uphold clarity, honesty, integrity and moral conviction in a complex world. The address also stressed accountability and personal responsibility, reminding graduates that choices come with consequences.

The graduating students were encouraged to become agents of positive change by applying their knowledge, talents and values to address societal challenges with compassion, courage and wisdom. The speaker concluded by urging the Class of 2026 to build lives defined by character, humility and meaningful service rather than professional success alone.

Representing the junior students, Niboto Rochill delivered a farewell speech reflecting on memories, friendships and lessons shared with the outgoing class. He expressed gratitude for the seniors’ guidance, leadership and influence on the college community.

Heme Sumao, President of SUPCC, along with Songaror Horam and Glorisa Rangnaimai, also addressed the gathering on behalf of the graduating class, sharing reflections on their experiences, personal growth and journey at the college.

The programme concluded on an emotional and hopeful note, celebrating the accomplishments of the graduates and the enduring values of transformation, resilience, responsibility and hope. The event also reaffirmed the ideals of “Light and Truth” and the lasting bonds within the Patkai community beyond campus life.
