
DIMAPUR,MARCH 2 (MExN): The Department of Philosophy at Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) organized a one-day seminar on “Academic Writing & Intellectual Property: The Art of Giving Credit” at the college’s conference hall on February 28.
Dr Temjenkala Jamir, the resource person for the seminar, emphasized the importance of credibility in research while explaining different types of research, key terminologies, and fundamental techniques. She also highlighted the role of intellectual property rights in academia and information and communication technology (ICT), stressing the relevance of plagiarism awareness in research and society.
Speaking on the qualities of good research, Jamir said it should address important and relevant issues, contribute to knowledge, and have beneficial implications. She also discussed open-access resources available to scholars, such as the National Library of India, the National Digital Library, and NCERT.
The session covered citation and referencing techniques, particularly the American Psychological Association (APA) style, including its basic formats and types.
The seminar was coordinated by a committee comprising Dr Wojanbeni S Yanthan, Bendang Longchar, and Mhao Tungoe. Earlier, Kehinye Seb introduced the resource person, while Longchar, head of the Department of Philosophy, led the invocation.
