Particpatns of the one-day workshop on 'Sensitisation on Common Diseases Among Children' organised by Department of Education, PCC (Autonomous), in collaboration with the Community Health Nursing Department, College of Nursing CIHSR on March 6.

Patkai, March 9 (MExN): The Department of Education, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), in collaboration with the Community Health Nursing Department, College of Nursing CIHSR, organised a one-day workshop on 'Sensitisation on Common Diseases Among Children' on March 6.
Neiketounuo Medom, Assistant Professor, College of Nursing, Christian Institute Of Health Sciences and Research (CHISR), who was the resource person for the event, highlighted the major causes of child mortality.
She further provided insights into the prevention of six prevalent diseases for children: Tuberculosis, Poliomyelitis, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, and Measles.
She explained how these diseases spread, the methods of prevention, and available treatments.

During her presentation, Medom also discussed the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in India, noting that the IMR in 2024 was 25.799 deaths per 1,000 live births, compared to 25.5 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2022.
Following her session, Akum Toshi, her colleague, spoke on immunisation and the various vaccines used to combat these diseases. To enhance understanding, the resource persons distributed vaccine samples to the students.
An interactive quiz session was conducted on QUIZIZZ.com, where 73 students participated, each answering 10 questions related to the day's topic.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Khriesalie, Assistant Professor, Patkai Christian College.
