Colo Mero, Director of Life Ministries, unveiling the Patkai Christian College football jersey on campus.

Chümoukedima, September 26 (MExN): Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) officially launched its football jersey ahead of the team’s participation in the ongoing 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy. The jersey was unveiled by Colo Mero, Director of Life Ministries, at a special ceremony held on campus.
The programme began with a prayer of blessing from Rev. Dr. Vichukho Ngukha, Chaplain of Patkai Christian College, setting a solemn and encouraging tone for the event. Wetshete Thopi, Dean of Students’ Welfare, chaired the programme and expressed gratitude to G-Sports Nagaland, the official sponsor of the team jersey, for their generous support.
In his address, Colo Mero motivated the players to strive for excellence both on and off the field. He reminded them that education must lead to holistic development — physical, mental and spiritual — and urged them to use sports as a positive force, avoiding distractions that could hinder their discipline and goals.
Highlighting the college motto, “Truth and Light,” he encouraged the players to uphold these values during their matches, regardless of the results. He also noted that Patkai is increasingly becoming a sports-centric institution, with initiatives like the annual Patkai Trophy providing a platform for students to grow and excel.
Mero further emphasized that Patkai is expanding its commitment to sports development by providing coaching opportunities in football, volleyball and badminton, thereby nurturing talent and promoting a holistic culture of excellence.
The college team is scheduled to play against Jakhama Youth Organisation on September 29 in the ongoing tournament. Concluding his remarks, Mero encouraged the team to give their best performance and assured them of his full support as they continue to grow as athletes and well-rounded individuals.
