2016 is coming to a close. 65 years have gone by since that fateful day on 16 May 1951 when a Pebliscite was held by NNC to decide on the fate of the Naga people. 99.9% of the Nagas voiced out for a sovereign independent Nagalim. Within that span of years, so many things have happened to the Nagas. The state of Nagaland was created which led to the entry of unchecked Indian money into the Naga society. With the entry of unchecked Indian money there arose corruption, nepotism and tribalism. Nagas who were once simple and honest soon saw what money can do, corrupted ourselves. Naga National workers who once fought for freedom honestly also fell prey to Indian money. Naga National workers are now the worst of the corrupted lot. With the ceasefires declared, Naga National workers now have become lazy and fat ,wallowing in Indian money.
Nagas now drives luxury cars, lives in palatial bungalows, wears branded clothes and what not. With the creation of Nagaland State and with ceasefires being extended again and again (NSCN K though has broken the ceasefire), peace and stability seems to have arrived in the Naga Soil. But I want to ask, deep down are you really an Indian? Do you want to be an Indian? Have we forgotten our birthright to be free? Is Patriotism dying in Naga Soil With this false sense of Peace, security and stability India has corrupted us both materially and mentally. Naga family is so divided now. Nagas are divided into Nagaland Nagas, Manipur Nagas, Assam Nagas, Arunachal Nagas and Myanmar Nagas and the fire of patriotism is doused off using Money. We are seeing the rise of a generation who cares less about our birthright; to be free people. India and Myanmar is so happy that young Nagas now don't care about being a free Nation. India and Myanmar's goal of a divided Naga family can be seen.
What about the blood that has been shed by our fathers to bring freedom in Naga lives? Those blood have been shed in vain? Those blood was suppose to fall on fertile soils. Are we Nagas forgetting who we are? Are we getting so Indianized that we walk over the blood of our ancestors shamelessly?
