Dimapur, October 5 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, who is also in-charge of PWD (R&B) department on October 5, visited the 4th mile stretch to Niuland road along with department officials.


As per a press release from media cell, Deputy CMO, the village councils, GBs, elders and student leaders of different villages of the area apprised the Minister of the deplorable condition which has been left unattended since the last decade.


The road being one of the busiest roads in Nagaland which has connectivity with other districts, the elders said that throughout the years, the Councils have been maintaining the road with their own resources.


They expressed dismay that, even after several memorandums and representations being submitted on various occasions to subsequent governments have never materialized.


However, the elders were hopeful that the present Minister will fulfill their long cherished dream of having a good road, and assured him of their full cooperation if the project is implemented.


The 4th mile – Niuland road interestingly falls under two assembly constituencies, Ghaspani-1 and Ghaspani-2.
The Deputy CM after hearing the grievances assured that he along with both representatives of the area will take up the matter with the CM, who also holds Finance portfolio on priority basis, for sanction of funds.


Patton also said that if the project is taken up, he will personally pay periodic visits to ensure quality workmanship and even put up signboard with the names of contractor and supervisory officer which is the Executive Engineer.
He appealed for cooperation from the stakeholders comprising of several villages, since they will be the guardians and beneficiaries.


Minister for PHED, Jacob Zhimomi thanked the Deputy CM for visiting his constituency, adding he was the first minister PWD (R&B) to pay physical visit to the area, and further assured him of all possible help.


Patton was accompanied by Er Limanaro CE, PWD (R&B), EE PWD (R&B); Er Talitemsu EE, Dimapur; Er Kahuli SE; ADC Niuland Athril; EAC Yanthungrhomo Kikon and other department officials.
