We the undersigned on behalf of the Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) in particular and the whole inhabitant in general would like to make a humble appeal to Er.Keneilhoule Keditsu, President Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) and the concerned Nagaland wrestling coaches of the XX North East Sports Festival held at Kohima from 17th-20th Jan.’ 06 at the different Stadiums for the clarification of the following points regarding one prominent Naga wrestler Mr.Surhoneyi Soho under 84 kg category hailing fom the Phek Range.
1. That sir, regarding the participation in the said Festival, Mr.Surhoneyi Soho who is conformed as one of the selected wrestler under the mentioned category with the concerned coach though he is not attending the coaching camp from the beginning as he was participating in the 19th wrestling tournament of the PAWA. The confirmation was finalized with the condition that the said wrestler should reach the camp on 14th Jan.’ 06 and thereafter the vacancy of the said category would be filled up by Surhoneyi himself. But we learned from Soho that after he fulfilled all the criteria and reaching the camp at the appointed time with all the equipment and to his surprise after reaching the camp it was found that one Angami Khrietuo was filled in replacement of Surhoneyi. Hence the PAWA require the clarification, why this humiliation and discouragement of the wrestlers prevail in such a situation?
2. Afterall, Surhoneyi Soho was conformed to take part under his own category representing Arunachal Pradesh Team. Fortunately,Mr.Soho by God’s grace was able to defeat all his opponents and was in the position to face Mr.Khrietuo in the final. As Mr.Soho was able to come up to this far, several complaints were being carried out against him. However, things seemed to be in a solvable condition as long as Mr.Hukhoneyi Soho former Champion NWA who is also the elder brother of Surhoneyi and who is also the Official Athletic section of this Festival is in the wrestling complex. Surprisingly after Hukhoneyi left out for the athletic field Surhoneyi & Khrietuo were supposed to clash for the Gold within no time, unfortunately at that particular time the so called Engineer, President NWA came down to the wrestling field and subsequently requested Surhoneyi to give up the privilege for the Naga sake and let Khrietuo to avail the Gold. Mr.Soho realized that all Nagas were in no way supporting him morally, so with no extreme unwillingness fulfilled the desire of the so called Engineer, a learned man in the Naga Society.The PAWA in this respect felt that this is one of the worst ever style practiced by the Nagas since time immemorial, besides, 99% of the wrestlers as well as all the other sportsman in all the disciplines are totally discouraged after hearing this sports Tragedy implemented by the NWA. This clarification too is badly required by the whole sport lovers in particular and the whole people in general of the Nagas and the PAWA.
3. Whatsoever it was Mr.Surhoneyi Soho who should be declared as the Silver medalist. However, shockingly we learned he was not even given the privilege to stand on the Victory stand and claim his Award. Subsequently he was not allowed to have an interaction with the Nagaland wrestling coaches and Officials.
In this regard the PAWA questioned Naga Wrestling Coach Mr.Chisazo Chakhesang who is also the Official of the event and also the elder adviser of Surhoneyi; ‘why do you badly neglect your own brother instead of protecting him against all odds?’
Furthermore, the PAWA question the NWA President and ask the evidence of who had claimed all the cash, certificates, Silver, suit etc. of Surhoneyi? The PAWA badly require the name of the thief of this Award.
4. Mr.Hukhoneyi Soho elder brother of Surhoneyi Soho made a search of the NWA President and other concerned coach of Nagaland to review the incident and subsequently make a mutual confirmation in order not to extend the misunderstanding but unfortunately all the required Officials made a good escape. The PAWA feel that this is a cowardice act and term their act as “Unfortunate & Unbearable”
The PAWA being the father of Surhoneyi, appeal to all the right thinking citizens to make an Appreciation OR Condemnation wherever necessity arises. The PAWA further appeal to President of the NWA not to take otherwise note of the PAWA appeal but take a good note of this horrible sports Tragedy and take necessary measures to encourage the upcoming young talented sportsperson instead of adopting discouragement measures.
The PAWA in a humble petition, appeal to the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) to make a proper enquiry of this initial incident in consultation with Chisazo Chakhesang, Wrestling Coach Nagaland who is also the Official of the event.
The PAWA in its final petition, appeal to all the right thinking citizens specially like minded people/Organizations to give necessary suggestion to the higher authority in order to avoid such kind of unwanted situation in the near future.
