DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): The executive committee of the western Angami Public organization (WAPO) had earlier in its meeting held at Sechu Town deliberated on the issue of compensations in the event of executing the proposed four- laning of the Dimapur-Kohima sections of National Highway 39.
This is what the WAPO had decided upon- “For widening the highway along the existing alignment of the western Angami public will not claim compensation for falling within the area of WAPO’s jurisdiction; however, appropriate compensations should be made by the Government to individuals or groups for built-up structures, terraced rice fields, orchards, irrigation channels, etc. which are to be removed or damaged in the process of widening the highway.”
In cases where new alignment of highway needs to be done, appropriate land compensation, and other compensations as may arise, should be made to individuals or groups whose properties are to be adversely affected by such diversions from the existing alignment, it was resolved upon.
