Dimapur, February 15 (MExN): An interaction between members of the Private College Association Nagaland (PCAN) and officials of Nagaland University led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Pardeshi Lal was held on February 13 at Lumami.

According to a press release from the PCAN, the interaction was held in order to build a strong and collaborative relationship between the two and to discuss possible options and solutions to all the issues that come up in the common pursuit of attaining the status of an educational hub.

During the meeting, the PCAN submitted an aspirational request letter to the Vice-Chancellor, covering various aspects including setting up an empanelled list of subject experts for teacher’s recruitment, the need for the NU to bring out its own Ordinance that is accommodative and specific to the state’s needs and context, organizing a state-level annual inter-college sports & literary competition and defining the role of the College Development Council, among others.

This is necessary in the common interest of students, for development of higher education, to deliver quality education, and for advancement of the society, the release stated.

PCAN members highlighted that most of the colleges were struggling in many respects, to stand on their own feet, and that they require special understanding and support from the University in matters like speedy disposal of administrative approvals and clearances pertaining to their growth and development, in both academic and physical developmental areas. It was decided that any communication gap(s) would be addressed, the release stated.

According to the release, the interaction concluded on a positive note that the NU administration will do whatever is possible to guide and help the colleges.
