PDA coalition affirms strong alliance and unity

Kohima, July 1 (MExN): In a joint statement, the NDPP-BJP PDA coalition has reaffirmed the strength and unity of their alliance, addressing what it termed as recent misinformation and speculation circulating in various media platforms.

"The alliance between the NDPP and the BJP is as strong as ever, and the PDA Government is functioning smoothly," the joint statement from Ministers KG Kenye and Temjen Imna Along stated. The coalition clarified that despite the loss in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the outcome was accepted with humility and respect for the people's mandate.

The PDA coalition had fielded a joint candidate for the Lok Sabha elections, but the candidate was not successful. "We have the utmost respect towards the mandate of the people," added the statement.

The release also addressed the recent Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, which were held across all urban towns except in the eastern region. Both the NDPP and the BJP agreed to contest in their respective constituencies with local understandings for friendly contests in three councils. "These contests were friendly in nature and have not impacted the joint teamwork of the PDA coalition in any manner," it added.

The coalition assured that the state government continues to function with cohesion and collective responsibility. "The positive spirit of the alliance will continue to be upheld even in the formation of the ULBs across the state," it stated Along, adding that both parties are committed to working collectively with team spirit and unity to serve the people of Nagaland.

Expressing gratitude to the electorates, the coalition acknowledged the overwhelming mandate received in the ULB elections as a positive endorsement of the PDA Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. "We extend our sincere appreciation to all the government and non-government agencies who made commendable efforts and contributed towards holding peaceful and successful elections," it said.

The coalition appealed to all sections of society to strengthen unity and oneness. "We remain committed to serving every citizen of Nagaland in an inclusive and just manner," it reiterated.
