PDA desires to further amend Nagaland Municipal Act

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio who is also minister in-charge of urban development and municipal affairs stated that the PDA government wishes and desires to further amend the Nagaland Municipal (First Amendment) Act, 2006, as per the wish of the people communicated through the various Hohos.


He stated that the Municipal Act 201 was amended three times in 2006, 2007 and 2016.


Replying this to MLA Yitachu in unstarred question here Thursday at the 4th session of 13 Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Rio said “Unfortunately, the matter of 33% women reservation is sub judice in the Supreme Court and for which legal advice is sought from the Advocate General, Nagaland.


Rio stated that a cabinet sub-committee has been constituted to look into the matter of 33% women reservation and how best it can be resolved in consultation with the legal experts and the Hohos.
