The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) 38 Wokha AC Parliamentary Election campaign programme was held at Longsa village, Wokha on April 11 with PDA candidate Dr Chumben Murry, accompanied by MLA and Advisor Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, and Former BJP candidate Renponthung Ezung.
Expressing appreciation for the immense support received from the people, Dr Murry in his campaign speech displayed confidence in the party’s prospects for victory in the upcoming elections.
Dr Murry strongly rejected claims labelling the BJP as anti-Christian and cautioned against exploiting religious sentiments for political advantages. He criticised the Congress for its alleged exploitation of religious identity in politics, highlighting the party's purported failure to offer concrete solutions to pertinent issues. He also expressed a keen interest in aligning with the Northeast Christian Forum, assuring to uplift the Christian community and safeguarding their sentiments.
Dr Murry emphasised the PDA government's dedication to putting the needs of the Naga people first. He highlighted the gradual removal of AFSPA from various areas under the current administration's efforts. Additionally, he addressed concerns regarding exclusion from UCC and CAA. He promised to tirelessly strive for peace, stability, and progress, positioning himself as a crucial link between the Nagas and Delhi, while urging voters to support him on April 19 elections.
Advisor Mhathung Yanthan in his speech highlighted Dr Murry's popularity and intelligence, assuring voters of his trustworthiness and calling for unity in support of the PDA.
Talking about the ENPO matter, he stayed hopeful of their participation in the democratic process.
Yanthan encouraged unity among voters and urged them to elect Dr Murry with a significant majority. He also rejected claims of the BJP being anti-Christian.
MLA YM Humtsoe confidently backed Dr Murry’s victory, questioning if Congress can even reach 1 lakh votes. He also mentions about the support of 60 MLAs and 8 political parties for the PDA candidate Dr. Murry and urged for wise voting.
Renponthung Ezung, ex-BJP candidate, praised Dr Murry as ideal Naga representative in parliament. He underlined the importance of unity, especially during critical moments.
