PDA reiterates support to Nagaland Gov

KOHIMA, JULY 10 (MExN): The ruling People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) held a meeting at Chief Minister’s residential complex in Kohima on July 10 and reiterated its cooperation and support to the Nagaland Governor.

The meeting took into account the concerns shared by the Governor on the overall scenario of the State and resolved to work collectively towards the common endeavours of achieving lasting peace and all round development.

It endorsed the State Government’s statement dated July 2 in response to the Governor’s letter to the CM regarding the law and order situation in the State. On the same issue, the PDA rejected calls made by opposition parties for the present government to step down.

“The PDA is a democratically elected Government that enjoys the mandate of the people which has been reinforced in successive Lok Sabha and assembly bye elections and the PDA will continue to carry out its constitutional duties,” a press release from Chingwang Konyak, Convener, PDA and NDPP President; and Temjen Imna Along, Co-Convener, PDA and Nagaland BJP President stated.

The PDA also called for an early solution to the Indo-Naga political issue through a negotiated political solution that is honourable and acceptable to the people. It appealed to the negotiating parties to expedite the peace process and bring an early political solution.

The ruling alliance meanwhile acknowledged the State Government machinery for their efforts to fing the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PDA also thanked all the frontline workers, Church organisations, tribe hohos, mass based organisations, civil societies, political parties and NGOs for making “extraordinary sacrifices” and jointly working with the State Government to overcome the hurdles and challenges posed by the pandemic.

While appreciating the people of Nagaland who have extended cooperation to the Government in following lock down guidelines and observing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the PDA asked the public to continue observing the SOPs and advisories in the most disciplined fashion.
