Kohima, June 10 (MExN): The Phek District Badminton Association (PDBA) today conducted District Selection-cum-Veteran Championship at Pfutsero. This veteran championship is part of the Phek District Open Badminton Championship 2023.
Addressing the introductory session at Pfutsero Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, MLA Dr. Neisatuo Mero challenged the badminton players to aim for excellence and target for national and international level tournaments.
Dr Mero urged the players to maintain professionalism by embracing discipline and consistency as a sportsperson. He reminded the players that games involve rigorous physical exertion and encouraged them to maintain proper hydration of the body and eat healthy. He also encouraged the participants to play for peace.
Earlier, PDBA President, Dr Nutazo Lohe delivered welcome address at the introductory session. Wekhro-u Thele presented a special song. The programme was chaired by PDBA finance secretary Vekhrolo Koza while vote of thanks was proposed by PDBA Vice President, Muzivo Khamo. Earlier, the junior and senior championship took place on June 9.
