Phek, May 17 (MExN): The Phek District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PDCCI) on May 15 held its 4th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Uko Café in Chozuba Town under the theme “Strengthening Local Economy Through Responsible Leadership”.

The meeting, hosted by the Business Union Chozuba Town (BUCT), witnessed the participation of executives and representatives from affiliated business bodies across Phek district.

The AGM deliberated extensively on issues concerning the future of the district’s business community, including institutional reforms, economic policies and sustainable business development.

Delivering the welcome address, BUCT president Rhiltstiyi Ritakho stressed the importance of collective cooperation, unity and collaboration among various business bodies for the overall welfare and advancement of the business community.

Former PDCCI president Chetezo Akami, in his exhortation, encouraged members of the business community to maintain courtesy, professionalism and cordial relations with customers.

He also urged local entrepreneurs to continue striving forward with dedication and hard work, noting that many entrepreneurs from the Raga community were still first-generation business owners.

The keynote address was delivered by PDCCI president Razoukhruyi Dozo, who highlighted several challenges confronting the business sector in the district.

He stressed the need for greater government support to strengthen the business community and improve the ease of doing business.

Dozo also underscored the importance of creating opportunities for youth, addressing issues related to multiple taxation, appropriately streamlining the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act and strengthening local entrepreneurship to compete effectively in the expanding market economy.

The PDCCI president stated that more than 95 per cent of businesses operating in Phek district were owned and managed by local entrepreneurs, which he described as a positive sign for the Chakhesang community and a reflection of the growing entrepreneurial spirit among local people.

The AGM also discussed future organisational reforms, strategic district business policies, institutional strengthening and long-term economic development goals aimed at improving the welfare of the business community across the district.

PDCCI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible leadership, transparent governance, ethical business practices, sustainable entrepreneurship and balanced economic growth in the district.
