PDNCSU cautions people obstructing development works

‘Frequent pestering by individuals’ disrupts two lane works under Phek dist

Phek, December 8 (MExN): The Phek District Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (PDNCSU) today reported that the two lanning works under Phek district carried out under Shivalaya Construction Co is on “temporary suspension” especially from Sedzu River to 50 Kms stretch.

The Union stated that the “temporary suspension” has been due to “frequent pestering by some individuals from certain villages demanding machineries for engaging in their personal woks.” It also alleged that “some individuals had even deliberately released water from the water canals to the partly completed retaining walls and the works have to be suspended which is very unfortunate.”

“Companies and contractors are facing such difficulties,” PDNCSU, President, Kuzhoshey Soho Alex and General Secretary, Razou Lohe said in a press release while affirming that it “will not hesitate to expose those people who are obstructing developmental works in our district. This frequent interruption had apparently led to disturbances in carrying out the smooth transition of their assigned developmental activities.”

The Union also requested that the VCC and public leaders of those villages to “rein in their fellow members from carrying out such illegal activities which may tantamount to obstructing developmental activities and is liable to be booked and detained as per law.”

“We cannot afford to let this opportunity slip away again due to our petty selfishness,” the Union asserted.

It also urged the district administration “who seems to be turning a blind eye to take note of such occurrences and take action against those individuals obstructing developmental activities of the Government and subsequently provide adequate security to the contractors so that developmental works are carried out without any hindrances and completed within the stipulated time.”
