Mokokchung, February 7 (MExN): Following the Public Distribution System (PDS) scam in Mokokchung Town which was unearthed by the district administration and police recently, the All Ward Union Mokokchung (AWUM) held an emergency presidential council meeting on February 5 at its treasurer’s residence to deliberate on the issue. A press release from R. Ayim Longkumer, President and Angkong Jamir, Media Cell of AWUM informed that the presidential council meeting resolved to track the issue and demand the authority concerned to award befitting punishment as per the provision of the law to the person/ persons involved without any further delay as the public of Mokokchung Town is anxious for the report and action from the authority concerned. The release further stated that as enshrined in the AWUM constitution Art. 1 (i) & (ii), the AWUM will do all the needful for the protection, safety and liberties of all the citizens of the town. “The AWUM will give unflinching support and co-operation as and when required to the authority concerned for the uprooting of such malpractices from the town,” it assured.
