PDSA 30th meet to commence at Lephori

Phek | January 31 : The 30th meet of Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) will commence today at Lephori Village with Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Law & Justice, government of Nagaland, Yitachu as the chief guest. The tourney which was hosted by KAMALEAH Area Sports Association will culminate on February 9 next. Er. Dikhrolo Mero will grace the closing ceremony as the guest of honour on February 9 next. The tourney is patronage by a team of members led by Minister for Health & Family Welfare, government of Nagaland, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu as the chief patron. Hukhonieyi Soho, PET GHS, Phek Village will be the tourney Field Marshal while Huvesu Puro, PET, GMS, Sohomi will be the chief referee. District Sports Officer (DSO) Phek was assigned as the Supervisor and Huveta Hoshi, Retd. PET will be the coordinator. Six international players will be the tourney torch bearer viz; Chekrovolu Swuro-Archery International Player, Vemugou Hoshi-National Gold medalist and Asian Bronze medalist and also two times international competitors, Puchochiyi-Wuxu International Player, Nutolu-Sepaktakraw International Player, Pungotolu- Sepaktakraw International Player and Velukho Rhakho-International Footballer and also the last Academic Sport’s Person. The tourney highlights includes, seven track events for both the genders, six field events for men and five filed events for women under athletic section and under games section football, volleyball and basket ball for both the genders and Election of the new PDSA team for the tenure 2011-2013. For the first time in PDSA history there will be Open Arm Wrestling competition for both the genders where each area is directed to send two participants (both men & women) and submit the same to the sports secretary Surhonieyi Soho for the said competition. There will be an election of office bearers on 8 February where it stated that election manual shall be issued only after the clearance of an entry fee. All teams are further directed to come with their team chaplain failing which it shall be barred for participating in the 30th Meet. All the entrusted persons are asked to report one day ahead of the contingents’ arrival. Meanwhile, the PDSA in a separate statement conveys its gratitude to chief guest Yitachu for initiating Lephori road clearance in view of the forthcoming tourney for the last few weeks back and will be continuing till the commencement of the tourney. Expressing its appreciation for the kind gestures and generous contribution towards the Association, the PDSA further expects a fruitful outcome with a different under his initiatives.
