NEISSR MSW final year students embark on 10-day study tour
Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): The 5th Batch of MSW final year student’s 10-day study tour was flagged off at North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) Dimapur on January 27 by Rev Dr Wati Aier, Convener Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).
Expressing great respect for young people, Dr Aier addressed the small group of students specializing in “Peace and Conflict Transformation studies as social assets, public goods and contemporary social energies for change.”
Based on his years of experiences of spearheading Naga Reconciliation process, Dr Aier asked the students of Peace and Conflict Studies to be well-equipped with Track-II processes in dealing with the contemporary conflicts in the state and across nations. With great sense of relief and satisfaction, a press release stated, Dr Aier informed the students that “the environment of deep suspicions, fears, insecurities and uncertainties are gone in Nagaland, and the days of hopes and aspirations has began, where men, women and children can walk freely on the streets.”
“The time now is for young people’s creativities to resolving conflicts and solving problems in the society with political imaginations that does not step over other’s rights,” he asserted.
A group of 12 MSW final year students specializing in Peace and Conflict Transformation studies belonging to different indigenous communities will travel through three states, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur in their “journey of listening and learning.”
The students will have series of interactions with intellectuals, political leaders, social workers and human rights defenders including women leaders belonging to different sections of society to study stories of political struggles in the three neighbouring states.
During the tour, NEISSR students will also campaign for Clean India and Water Conservation as part of the ‘Swachhta Pakhwada 2020’ under the instructions from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
On the last leg of the tour, the student will also participate in a North East Regional level CSOs Consultation on SDG 2030 at Loktak Lake which is being organized for submission to NITI Aayog, Government of India.
