Peace Forum- ecumenical coalition for sustainable peace in Nagaland

Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): A webinar on ‘Peace Forum’ was organized by Peace Channel in collaboration with North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research on November 27. 

Inputs on the concept, vision, mission, working modality of peace forum was initiated by Alino Chishi, Kohima District Coordinator cum Trainer Peace Channel. She stressed on the concept of forming peace forum in the communities. 

Empowering children and youth alone was not enough, having felt the necessity and urgency to work with adult inorder to have an effective approach for peace promotion in the society, she added. 

She elucidated that peace forum is an open forum which does not have any rigid structure. It is a group of likeminded individuals who are committed to work for peace on voluntary basis. The members are trained on understanding dialogue to intervene, and to mediate during conflicts.

In the second session, Vitono Haralu, Trainer cum Consultant, Peace Channel shared on the process of resolving conflict accumulating her personal experience on how effectively she has intervened in resolving a conflict in her family by following the seven steps of mediation process. 

Ajay Sethi, Governing Board member and member of Peace Forum Peace Channel, Dimapur shared on his personal experience on how peace forum in the state has been initiating different activities towards peace promotion in the state.

Dr Fr C P Anto, Director, Peace Channel, in his concluding remark he appreciated the facilitator, trainers, speakers for their insightful presentation during the webinar and thanked all the participants for signing in the mission of peacebuilding. 

The webinar concluded with open discussion where the participants took active participation by sharing their take away from the session and suggestions and feedbacks for the session.
