Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): Lions Club International is organizing the 29th Peace-Poster Drawing Contest on the theme “A Celebration of Peace” at Lions Club of Dimapur, Midland on October 2 starting 11:30 am.
A press release from the chairpersons of the Dimapur contest has requested interested schools or youth groups in Dimapur district to submit names of three participants from their respective institutions, who are within the age group of 11 to 13 years (as on November 15, i.e., born between November 16, 2003 and November 15, 2005).
Lions Clubs International has been annually organizing the Peace-Poster Contest around the world wherever a Lions Club exists. The motto of the contest is to foster the spirit of harmony, tolerance and international understanding among the youths in particular, thereby giving a message of peace to all the sections of the society, stated the press release issued by the Peace-Poster Contest chairpersons, Chubala Mukherjee (Lions Club of Dimapur Blue Vanda) and Ajay Sethi (Lions Club of Dimapur). The contest will be held on four levels – local Lions Club, district, multiple, and international.
International Grand Prize winner will receive a free trip to the award ceremony venue. At the ceremony, s/he will receive US $ 5,000 (or local equivalent) and an award. Two family members (one being the winner’s parent or legal guardian) and the sponsoring Lions Club President or a club member (as designated by Club President) will accompany the winner to the award ceremony.
The award ceremony is planned in March 2017. Further, 23 Multiple-District Merit Award Winners each will receive US $ 500 (or local equivalent) and a certificate of achievement with a plaque. The criteria for the award are originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme.
Locally, there will be cash awards of Rs.3,000/-, Rs.2000/-, Rs.1,000/-, for the top 3 winners respectively, besides certificates for the schools and the winners. The project is jointly organized by Lions Club of Dimapur and Lions Club of Dimapur Blue Vanda.
The release recalled that last year, Sangita Laisharm of Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School, Krishna Kant Dey of Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School, and Akihito Achumi of Hollotoli School were the top three winners of Dimapur contest respectively.
The 25 schools which participated in the last year’s contest are Cambridge School, Chitrakala School of Fine Arts, Christian Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur Music College, Delhi Public School, Dimapur Railway High School, Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Euro School of Fine Arts, High Mountain School, HMC High School, Hollotoli School, Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School, Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School, MGM Hr Sec School, Netaji Subhash Kala Kendra, Pine Mount School, Pranab Vidyapith Hr. Sec. School, Ram Janaki Hr. Sec. School, S D Jain Hr. Sec. School, St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, St. Paul Hr. Sec. School, St. Thomas Montessori School, Surulok Music College, The Maple Tree, Trinity School.
Last year, Dr. Minakshi Kalita (Ankan Bivakar & Ankan Ratna) and Dhrubajyoti Kalita from Guwahati were the judges for the local level contest.
