Peace rally in support of ‘Framework Agreement’

  IMPHAL, AUGUST 13 (NNN): A large number of people took out a peace rally today at Longmai (Noney), some 60 km west of Imphal in connections with a lot of issues including the Naga political issue.   The rally was carried out demanding that they “want peace and abhor violence” in the Longmai (Noney) area. They also said they “support the Framework Agreement” and demanded that the Naga political issue is resolved at the earliest.   The rally organized by Longmai Area Village Council and Naga Women Union Longmai Area, started from Longmai Noney Bazar to 8 Assam Rifle GateLater, public meeting was held at Longmai Bazar Market Shed where they made some declarations.   One of the declarations said, “We, the citizens of Longmai (Noney) area, want peace, tranquility and harmonious atmosphere, we abhor any form of violence which incite chaos, panic and fratricide”.   The second stated, “Early Naga solution is the urgent aspiration of every individual of this area, we pledge our strong unflinching support towards this end for lasting peace and development”.   The third stated, “any individual of this area should not be an informant to any group/faction”. It also stated that if anyone is found violating this declaration then the individual would be considered as an abettor “who is liable to be dissociated from their respective communities”. The last declaration said that any underground faction is not allowed to take shelter among the civilians and to move around wielding arms in public area.
