People still await full justice against those involved in electoral malpractices: NDPP unit

Kohima, April 17 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic People’s Party (NDPP) of 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency has lamented that full justice has not been served against those involved in malpractices in the recent State general assembly.

“People are still waiting for full justice to be executed on the culprits to give exemplary punishment and also to let them serve as deterrents for avoiding such ugly unfair practices from occurring again in future,” stated a press release from Vitsalhou Kesiezie, president, NDPP 8th Western Angami A/C.

While appreciating the disciplinary action taken by the Election Commission of India and Government of Nagaland on the ADC and the RO of Tening A/C by placing their services under ‘Suspension’ for their alleged biased actions, it rued that under Peren A/C, “people have yet to find justice in favour of the NDPP candidate pertaining to the gross injustice meted out against him by ill motivated and unscrupulous officials on duty.”

Under 9-Kohima Town A/C, it alleged, duplicate Voter Identity Slips just identical to the original ones were detected and seized from the possession of rival party workers which ultimately compelled the authority to conduct re-poll.

The NDPP unit further stated that in 8-Western Angami A/C, at least 32 cases of forged postal ballots that was cast in the name of some NDPP party office bearers, students, farmers and even a deceased person were detected.

The party said it is “keenly observing” on the steps being taken or will be taken by the authorities concerned regarding the casted forged postal ballots, while lamenting that till date there is no justice done.

“As a people’s party, although NDPP is not against any particular individual or party, we cannot and will not let an issue of such importance for the state to go unheeded or put under shelf, which will prove to be too costly for the future of the State,” it asserted.

The NDPP unit further reiterated that the particular matter must be addressed and justice done in full measure without delay.
