Farmers trained in drip irrigation method

Kohima, October 24 (MExN): The District Horticulture Office, Kohima organized a one day training programme for stakeholders on the theme ‘Per Drop More Crop’ under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY). The training was held on October 22 at Kigwema village.

The resource person of the training, Kandarpa Medhi, Sale Engineer, Netafim India demonstrated the operation and maintenance of drip irrigation on horticulture orchard.

Meanwhile, S Senka Jamir, District Horticulture Officer, Kohima deliberated on the importance and benefit of drip irrigation on horticulture crops.

In the face of climate change, installing drip irrigation system in the orchard not only saves water but also saves time, resources and inputs. It also results in better and more harvest, thereby, enhancing quality of life and purchasing power of farmers, Jamir said.

He shared his experience on horticulture farming and further encouraged the participants to make use of available facilities and technologies provided by the government.

The programme was chaired by R Chumben Patton, Horticulture Inspector. It was attended by beneficiaries from various villages under PMKSY of Jakhama Block.
