‘Perception of government schools must change’

Kezoma Urban Station gets new GMS building

Kohima, April 20 (MExN): The new building of Government Middle School, Kezoma Urban Station was inaugurated on April 17 by Er Kropol Vitsu, Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery, Nagaland.

The new infrastructure replaces the old school buildings, which had become unfit for use and beyond renovation.

Addressing the gathering as special guest, Er Vitsu highlighted the collective efforts of all stakeholders in making the project a reality. He emphasised that government schools are staffed by qualified teachers selected through rigorous competitive examinations and stressed that the perception of government schools must change. He called upon parents to enrol their children in government schools and actively support the education system.

Er Vitsu further underscored that teachers require cooperation and encouragement from parents and the community to deliver their best. He noted that a strong partnership between teachers and parents would significantly enhance the quality of education and help build confidence in government institutions.

Er Vitsu also acknowledged the prompt response of Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education & SCERT and the authorities and credited the leadership of Dr Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister, for enabling developmental initiatives in the state. He further appreciated the contractors for their workmanship and the landowners for their generous contribution towards the project.

The programme commenced with an invocation by Pastor Khweneil Cürhah, followed by a welcome address from Council chairman Kenongoto Tase. Dr Kevizakie Rio, Joint Director of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, spoke on behalf of the Department of School Education. Head GB Puviho Kiso expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their support in making the new building a reality. Pastor Neilzü Mekro pronounced the benediction.

The inauguration marks a significant step towards strengthening educational infrastructure and promoting quality education in the area.
