Peren, December 1 (MExN): Peren district on Monday observed World AIDS Day 2025 under the theme “Overcoming Disruption, transforming the AIDS response” at GB Hall, Peren Town.
Rovikhoto Mor, DPO, DISHA Peren shared on the significance of the day, stating, “mass involvement of the community was the reason for the success of HIV & AIDS programme in India.”
Mor emphasised that Lost to Follow up increased during the COVID 19 pandemic which impacted the HIV & AIDS program. He also highlighted that HIV is a social issue as it affects the family and society, and encouraged the community for HIV testing & treatment, while encouraging to create more awareness program.
Special guest A Ernest Sephe, President, Zeme Council Nagaland shared that collective effort should be made to combat HIV & AIDS. He emphasised that positive people should not be discriminated but they should be treated with love, compassion and equally.
Positive sharing was delivered Ilurai, where she highlighted that community involvement, medical staff and family plays an important role for positive clients. Eulogy was pronounced by Ramhei, Women Leader, PTBC where she said that all mankind are equal before the eyes of the Lord, and also encourage the community to uphold and support the positive clients.
The programme was attended by Women Leaders, Church workers, Youths, Town Council members, Administration, Colony Leaders. Besatalu Churah, DSRC Counsellor, DH Peren chaired the programme while the invocation prayer was pronounced by Pastor Joti Lohe, Tenyimia Baptist Church, Peren Town.
Sensitization program was also held at District Jail, Peren and a Candlelight Vigil programme was held at Children’s Home and Lydia Centre, ZBCC Peren.
