Peren dist PLVs trained on their role & responsibilities

Peren, March 25 (MExN): In Peren, orientation training programme was organised by Master Trainers and Legal Aid Counsel of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority in association with Peren District legal Services Authority. The programme was imparted adopting lecturing method, participatory and role play, quiz, group discussion and presentation and feedbacks was attended by 22 participants from Peren District.  

Somet Chumden Chang, Secretary of Peren DLSA explained on the project of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). She highlighted on the role and responsibilities of PLVs and qualities of a PLV. Somet also spoke on challenges and problems and way forward on PLV & Panel Lawyer.  

Asungbe, Retainer Lawyer led the practical session and conducted drill on drafting of petition and complain using FIR, DIR and RTI to equip PLVs with adequate drafting skills. Asungbe N Hau, Retainer Lawyer, Peren DLSA sensitized  the PLVs on the role play by a  PLV in case of Motor accidents and claims and apprised the participants on the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.   Akumla Longchari, Master Trainer presented a short role play on Domestic Violence Act showcasing the roles of PLVs and Panel Lawyers in dealing and handling cases related to crime against women and their protection.  

Practical learning session was held under the mentorship of Cheliam Khiamniungan, on Consumer Protection Act. Temjenrenla Aier, Panel Lawyer, gave a detailed instruction on how to maintain/filing the daily activities register, for filing of success stories and the importance of record keeping and submitting the activities report to their respective DLSAs.  

Akumla Longchari, Master Trainer gave a presentation sensitizing the PLVs on Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956 using quiz method and brain storming method. She trained the PLVs on rights of the arrested person by dividing the participants into groups and learning was imparted through interaction and idea sharing within the group.
