
Peren, July 27 (MExN): Population Stabilization fortnight activity under the Chief Medical Office, Peren district was launched on July 11 and was successfully carried out till July 24.
Pezanguno Celine Secii, District Media Officer, CMO Office Peren in a press release said that observing the population stabilization fortnight Family planning camp was held at District Hospital Peren, CHC Jalukie, Athibung PHC, Tening PHC, Azailong PHC, Ntuma PHC, Mbaulwa PHC, Dungki PHC, Heningkunglwa PHC, Poilwa PHC, Bongkolong sc, Mhainamtsi sc, Samzuiram sc and Gaili sc. Free family planning services were provided in all the mentioned health units.
Publicity was made through miking and announcements were made through the church platform in the District headquarters as well as in the block level. Banners were also placed block wise to create awareness during the observance of Population Stabilization fortnight.
A team consisting of IEC personnel, ASHA’s coordinators conducted the Focus Group Discussions (FGD) in 38 villages covering all the 4 blocks under Peren District. The discussions were solely based on the topic ‘Family Planning’ for each village. Before any FGD session was conducted time was given to address on the topic that was to be discussed. The FGD was also conducted keeping in mind the target group. The concerned people in the villages were cooperative when they were informed that such activity is to be conducted.
IEC materials leaflets, posters were distributed to all the above mentioned Health units and also in the villages visited. Monitoring and supervision was also carried out by Dr. Ngangshimeren, CMO, Dr. Tiala, Dy. CMO and Dr. Khrielasanuo, District Program Officer DPO UIP/RCH to the Health Units.
Counselling was carried out by the Medical Officers and Nurses in their respective Health units. ASHA’s conducted Inter personnel communication in all the villages for intensive awareness at the grass root level. During the camp condoms, oral pills and emergency pills were distributed. A total of 14 laparoscopic ligation (permanent method) and 26 IUCD (temporary method) family planning services was performed during the Fortnight.
