PEREN, JULY 13 (MExN): The ANSTA Peren as an outcome of their seminar has addressed some of their resolutions and charter of demands to the Chief Secretary, Kohima Nagaland.
ANSTA President Kiengau Nda reports that there are 38 (thirty eight) single teacher schools in Nagaland out of which Peren District has the distinction of having 24 (twenty four) schools with just a single teacher manning the school. “The ANSTA Peren Unit had unanimously decided and resolved to appeal for immediate appointment of teachers in the single teacher schools so that the National Policy of Education (NPE) and the constitutional mandate will be implemented and exercised in letter and spirit, ANNEXURE -1”, the President said.
In a release the Association has pointed that though the Government of Nagaland had declared and inaugurated Peren as a full fledged revenue district in the year 2004, the post of DEO have not been created till date. “For better administration and coordination of schools and officers in the district”, the Association “demands that the said post be created immediately to fulfill the Government’s commitment to the district”.
The President said that Peren district having a geographical area of 2300 Sq. Kms with 106 schools is one of the largest in terms of the area coverage by a single DIS in the state. “The district with just one DIS becomes practically impossible to visit all the schools in one calendar year. Therefore, ANSTA demand from you sir to create one more post of DIS for Tening Circle so as to ease the workload of the lone DIS in the District for better accessibility and administration” President Kiengau Nda stated in the addressed note to Chief Secretary.
The Seminar with the theme “Teaching towards Excellence” held at Peren on July 15 and 16 sponsored by SSA Nagaland had made a tremendous impact in over hauling the entire education system of the District. The Papers presented by various resource persons were found to be exceptional and the teachers of the district were immensely benefited, the note said.
Further, the ANSTA Peren District has appeal to the concerned department, to sponsor two more of such seminars as a follow up in the next two years wherein VEC/WEC of all the schools in the district will be included in the second seminar with the proposed theme “Practical impact on education” follow by the third and concluding seminar under the theme, “Harvesting Education”.
The ANSTA Peren District also added that a seminar of this kind will not only serve as an eye opener for the entire district but also will be a boon to the educationally and economically backward district particularly in the area of Human Resource Development.
