Personnel from the state Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services planted microchips on elephants in Merapani under Wokha district on October 23.  According to updates on the department’s official Twitter handle, the exercise was part of ‘elephant management measures.’ The microchips are used to identify the elephants by assigning a unique identification number to each of them.
