PFP aims for peace by 2015

DIMAPUR, MAY 1 (MExN): A new team of office bearers of the People’s Forum for Peace (PFP), Dimapur was installed on Wednesday at Christ’s Hall, Holy Cross Higher Secondary School Dimapur. The earlier team was led by convenor, Arthur Edwards and the new full-fledged team would be led by A. Taku Longkumer as the President. Director, Peace Channel, Rev. Fr. C. P. Anto said that the main objectives of the PFP were: to explore strategies for peace building; to conduct seminars to experience peaceful living and to instil and promote unity and harmony among different communities and religious organisations and to provide inclusive platforms for face to face dialogue between parties in conflicting situations. He said that the PFP aims to make peace by 2015. Stating that it was time to take an inclusive approach to build peace for a bright future, he called upon all people irrespective of caste, creed, tribe, community or religion to join hands in building peace within Dimapur district.  Newly elected President, A. Taku Longkumer called for a concerted effort of all people to make peace possible. He said PFP would work hand in hand with the Peace Channel and all organisations and Churches. 

Short speeches were delivered by the outgoing convenor, Arthur Edwards and representatives from Naga Council, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur and Dimapur Naga Students’ Union.
