Pfutsero alleged child torture case sparks outrage

Dimapur, June 30 (MExN): Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) condemned in the “strongest terms” the alleged brutal abuse of an 11-year-old girl by her foster mother in Pfutsero town, demanding immediate legal action against the accused.

The incident came to light on June 28 when the victim, bearing multiple bruises and injuries, was taken to a local pharmacy for unrelated medical treatment. Medical staff alerted authorities after noticing clear signs of prolonged physical assault on the child.

The association alleged the foster mother had been “habitually torturing the child physically and mentally,” while threatening her against disclosing the abuse.

“This evil act of a mother has totally destroyed the free spirited and healthy growth of the child and has put all mothers to shame and heartbroken,” stated the CMA in a press release. “Mothers are to care and love even when everyone cease to care and love. This evil act is unthinkable and shocking.”

The mothers' body has demanded immediate arrest of the accused and “the severest punishment under the law” to deter such crimes. They urged enforcement agencies to act “without leniency or delay.”

“The CMA will continue to keep track of the progress of the case and will not shy away from violence against children until justice is met,” it asserted. 

Chokri Area Mother's Association (CAMA) expressed outrage over the alleged brutal abuse of a minor foster child. In a statement, the association condemned the foster mother's “inhumane behavior” towards the child, who was reportedly subjected to horrific violence. “At an age where a child need most care, love and protection from guardians and parents, the brutal abuse on the minor is unacceptable,” CAMA stated. The mothers' body has appealed to authorities for swift action against the accused “and ensure justice be served to prevent such heinous acts from recurring.”

Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU) condemned in the strongest terms the alleged brutal abuse of an 11-year-old girl by her foster mother. The student body termed the incident ‘a gross violation of fundamental rights and human dignity that offends our society's moral fabric.’ CSU has urged authorities to register the case immediately and conduct a thorough investigation. The union cautioned that delayed or diluted justice would endanger more vulnerable lives. The student organization emphasized this case highlights the urgent need to strengthen child protection mechanisms. “This incident is a painful reminder of the need to strengthen our responsibility in safeguarding the voiceless,” CSU stated The CSU vowed to monitor the case closely, asserting they “will not hesitate to pursue appropriate actions should justice be denied or delayed. Justice must prevail—firmly, fairly, and without compromise.”

The Thipüzumi Community strongly condemned the alleged brutal abuse of an 11-year-old girl by her foster mother in Pfütsero. Calling the alleged actions “unprecedented in our community and culture,” In a statement, they described the case as “a total violation of the fundamental rights of a child and a disgrace of a motherly figure to its lowest degradation.” While seeking justice against this inhuman act, the Community prayed for recovery and healing of the child. “The pain this child has endured must not go unanswered.” “We demand immediate legal action against the perpetrator under all relevant provisions of child protection and criminal law.  Justice must prevail”
