Thousands of women took out a rally in Pfutsero Town today protesting against the alleged rape of a 13-year old physically challenged girl.

The alleged rape of the minor was reportedly committed by one Rüvütou Medeo on January 14 at the victim’s residence.

In protest, the Putsero Town Mothers’ Association (PTMA) organized the rally at Pfutsero Town following which a meeting was held at Town centre, Pfutsero.

Short speeches were delivered by Vechülo-ü Kanuo, Executive Director, Chakhesang Women Walfare Society; Yeihkhüshü Tureng, Former Chairman, Pfutsero Town; Punürü Rose, Head GB; and Hüsünü Kotso, President, Charity Society, Phusachodumi, Pfutsero Town.

Coming out strongly against the crime, the PTMA termed the act a shameful crime pointing out that it takes away the modesty, honour and integrity of a woman. Besides the physical aspects, the mental trauma will haunt her to her grave, the PTMA maintained.

The PTMA presented a memorandum condemning the gruesome crime in the strongest of terms and demanded that the culprit be awarded befitting punishment according to the law of the land and under the most stringent of clauses.

A total number of 3092 women participated in the procession to the ADC Office to submit the memorandum which was signed by PTMA President Kere-ü Pradia, Vice Presidents Viekope-ü Kenye and Shevohülü Tetseo, and Advisors Ngunyi-ü Medo and Zhonelü Tunyi.
