
Phek, December 2 (MExN): Inauguration of ‘Floriculture’ and ‘Mushroom Cultivation’ as vocational courses in Phek Government College (PGC) was formally done by Moa, District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Phek on November, 24. These courses are offered by Phek Government College supported under RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan), Directorate of Higher Education.
While inaugurating the ‘Floriculture’ he lauded the college for offering such courses and highlighted that floriculture as a blooming industry, economically viable, generating huge employment opportunities. Later he visited the mushroom growth room interacting with teachers and students. He further encouraged the students to take up these types of courses which would train and enable them to be skilful and also pass the skill to the society.
Dr. Katoni Jakhalu, Principal, PGC acknowledged the presence of DHO and special invitee Tiayanger Jamir, EAC, Phek for their constant support toward the welfare of the college. She further expressed her gratitude to the teacher in charge for their selfless service and to the students for showing keen interest in taking up these vocational courses. The inaugural programme was also attended by teaching faculties, students and well-wishers.
