Kohima, May 27 (MExN): PHC Chunlikha, located in Tseminyu district and currently functioning under CMO Kohima bagged National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) Certification under Primary Health Center Category under the leadership of Dr Cheyale Kath, Medical Officer I/C.
It may be mentioned that Dispensary Chunlikha was established in 1964, upgraded to PHC in 2001, and to Health and Wellness Center (HWC) in 2019.
NQAS were launched in 2013 with an aim to improve the quality of care in public health facilities of India. Under Primary Health Center Category, NQAS assessment is done for six departments, i.e. OPD, Labour Room, IPD, Laboratory, National Health Program (NHP) and General Administration.
Each Department in NQAS is broadly arranged under eight Areas of Concern (AoC) – Service Provision, Patient Rights, Inputs, Support Services, Clinical Care, Infection Control, Quality Management and Outcome. Under each AoC there are standards which are accredited by International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) and meets global benchmarks in terms of comprehensiveness, objectivity, evidence and rigour of development.
NQAS External Assessment of Chunlikha PHC was done on April 21 and 22, 2023. Nodal officers from the district for NQAS external assessment for extending faciltiatory support were Dr Imchatoshi Jamir, Dy. CMO Kohima and Dr Imnanoktsung Longchar, DPM (Quality Assurance). The external assessors for the National Certification of Chunlikha PHC included Dr Tomar Kamki, District Family Welfare Officer, West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh and Dr Lalchhanhima Hmar, Medical Officer, PHC Bilkhawthlir, Kolasib District, Mizoram.
Dr Tumchobeni, Chief Medical Officer, Kohima in a press release congratulated and thanked all the staffs of Chunlikha PHC for their incredible achievement and encouraged them for sustenance of their achievement in quality of healthcare services. The CMO also thanked all staffs of CMO Office Kohima for their support and cooperation during the arduous process of achieving NQAS Certification of Chunlikha PHC.
