
Kohima, May 9 (MExN): Minister for PHED Chotisuh Sazo accompanied by department officials visited and assessed the progress of implementation of the water supply project in Chiephobozou – “Providing water supply to 24 villages under Chiephobozou RD Block” – on May 9.
The officials comprised of Secretary Maongwati Aier (IAS), Chief Engineer Er. Kevisekho Kruse, and field officers.
Biggest rural water supply project implemented so far by the Department, the project is funded under NLCPR of the DoNER Ministry of the Govt. of India for a sanctioned cost of Rs 26.26 crores, according to a press release.
The pumping project involves creation of several balancing reservoirs of capacity 28.5 lakhs litres and 30 lakhs litres.
Once the project (which is now in advanced stage) is completed, a total of 24 water scarce villages under Chiephobozou RD Block of Kohima district should get drinking water supply at the rate of 2.80 million litres per day, the release added.
Although the Minister was impressed at the manner in which the Department was making headway through the challenging task, he urged upon the officers/staff and contractors to continue to press on with the work in order to complete the work and get it commissioned at the earliest, desirably within June or July 2017, it was stated.
