Cleaning of river during Public awareness campaign of rivers at Chathe River on February 27.

Kohima, February 28 (MExN): The “Public awareness campaign of Rivers” was held on February 27 under the aegis of National River Conservation Directorate (NCRD) – a centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Jal Shakti and organised by PHED, Government of Nagaland.
The awareness campaign covered various ULBs across the state where variety of activities have been conducted.

The morning activities included plantation of trees and flower saplings cum cleaning of the main water reservoir area of Kohima town by the state team to keep the reservoir area clean and improve the aesthetic beauty of the area. The campaign also witnessed cleaning of wastes along the stretch of Chathe River under Chümoukedima ULB.
Painting competition for Government school students under Pfutsero ULB on the theme “Every drop counts; protect your river” also took place.
Cultural programmes and talks on ‘Public Awareness Campaign of Rivers’ under Chiephobozou ULB also took place with district resource persons from PHED department, according to Thepfulie, State IEC Consultant, WSSO,PHED, Kohima.
